Ballarat launches rocket program
Thursday April 17,
Who ever said that schools ministry was just breakfast clubs and loud games? At Ballarat’s Mt Clear Primary School they are discovering that schools ministry really is rocket science!
For the next 5 weeks, the Elevate team are running a mentoring program based around building a water bottle rocket and launching system. The students will explore school values such as Exploration, Initiative, Determination and Improvement.
Did you know that many school values can be found in the Scripture? Take Initative for example, explore the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. The master was furious at those who had potential but did nothing with it.
Over to you…

I don’t think the master was a very nice person though. I don’t think the master is meant to be God. I don;t think God takes from those who don’t even have anything anyway. Maybe the master is actually just a master?

I think the master is God. I don’t think the story is supposed to represent God as a provider but rather as a judge.
I think the story is trying to tell us to use our giftings. Not to sit on the fence and keep them to ourselves.

But why would Jesus tell a story where God is represented by a person who takes away from those who don’t have anything?

In matt 24 Jesus talks about no one knowing when he’ll come back. He then tells 2 stories about the Kingdom of Heaven. Then talks about the final judgement.
The story of the virgins has 5 virgins expecting to get in to the wedding..but are denied for they didn’t prepare, they didn’t do the job that they were asked to.
The story of the talents, has 2 servants rewarded for doing what they were asked but one thrown into hell (thrown into the dark where there is weeping and nashing of teeth) because he didn’t do the job he was asked
then Jesus talks about the final Judgement where there are people expecting to get into heaven but are turned away for they never entered into the life of knowing and following Jesus that they ought to have,
I think the story is about the final judgement.
