  Monday 21st February, 2022

Back in Action!

What an amazing start to a new year! As a national movement we share a vision “that every child, young person and family in Australia has opportunities of transforming experiences with Jesus and a life-long journey of discipleship and service.” Over summer, here in Victoria close to 700 volunteers served on 27 mission and camp teams in communities from Portland to Mallacoota, Boort to Queenscliff, Ballarat to Inverloch, and at Camp Coolamatong. In this edition of Connect we share stories capturing their energy, joy, engagement, and impact as they helped people of all ages experience God’s love and Good News!

We’ve welcomed a new group of interns to Camp Coolamatong. Together these nine young volunteers will share a year of leadership, ministry, and personal development, and be equipped to provide memorable camping experiences for around 3000 primary and secondary students. Empowering young leaders remains core to our ministry ethos. We see this across our movement, and I’m excited for all God will do in and through these interns in the year ahead.

Our Schools Ministry Launch Day connected, encouraged, and equipped Chaplains as they return to school. We pray that God’s love will be experienced through their engagement, impacting students and transforming schools and communities.

This edition of Connect will our final Victoria-developed and -produced magazine. In the months ahead, as we serve within SU Australia, a united national brand will be launched with new opportunities to engage with the stories of God at work through the ministry of SU. While things will look different what is core to the movement, and your experience of SU, will remain the same as we continue to meet young people where they’re at, champion Bible engagement and prayer, partner with churches and communities, equip and release volunteer leaders, and explore innovative ways for connection and mission. I look forward to journeying into these next seasons together.

Thanks for being part of SU Australia in Victoria. Your involvement, prayer, support, and generosity make such a difference. SU is us, and together we want to help more children, young people, and families discover life in God’s big story.
